Stating this, party leader Gurudas Dasgupta also appealed to various organisations, including the All India Football Federation and the Board of Cricket Control in India, not to accept sponsorship from cola manufacturers as their products were harmful for the health of the people, especially the youth and children.
The CPI leader told reporters that these manufacturers were also refusing to publish the ingredients on the labels as was done in case of medicine and several other products.
"There have been persistent complaints against Pepsicola and Coca Cola companies that they have been completely violating all standards and rules," Dasgupta said.
Centre for Science and Environment yesterday came out with a fresh study claiming the presence of "pesticide cocktail" in 11 brands of soft drink giants Coca Cola and PepsiCo, three years after the same brands were found to have contained pesticides.
