It contains some of the most memorable moments of cricket history. Released by the Veterans Cricket Association of Delhi, this souvenir contains photographs and articles about the gentleman’s game by veteran players.

Where else will you get to see the rare group photograph of the first team of Bombay, clicked in early 30s. Or can read about the fascinating Ranji. Did you know that he was the first batsman in the history of the game to score over three thousand runs in one season?

The book was released by none other than Virender Sehwag who celebrated his 26th birthday recently. He was joined by his teammates Mohammad Kaif and Amit Bhandari at a function organised at the Hotel Crowne Plaza-Surya.

Present on the occasion were the chief patron of the organisation Lalit K Malhotra, former union minister Buta Singh and officials of the Delhi and District Cricket Association.

Sehwag seemed to be so impressed by the book that he couldn’t help himself from leafing through it. “There’s a lot of interesting stuff in this book. I am sure the forthcoming editions will have plenty more fascinating stuff to read. It’s an honour to release this souvenir,” said the Nawab of Najafgarh.

The association awarded Sehwag, Kaif and Bhandari with mementos for their
recent performances. Speaking on the occasion, national selector Yashpal
Sharma said, “Cricket is no more a game but has become a passion. Bringing out this book means capturing some of those precious moments so that they can be cherished forever. Ten years from now, even Sehwag, Kaif and Bhandari will be part of this association.”
