Moga Additional Sessions Judge BS Sandhu awarded the death sentence to Harjinder Singh after finding him guilty of hiring the contract killers to kill his son Baghel Singh, as the latter was opposed to his alleged illicit relationship with a woman. Harjinder hails from Kapurthala and was posted in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.

Baghel’s headless body with multiple injury marks was found near Jagraon in January 2003.

He was pursuing a diploma course at a polytechnic college in Ajitwal, Moga, and lived in a rented accommodation there.
