Talking to Hindustan Times, the Vice-Chancellor of CSA University, Dr MM Agarwal said that a comprehensive document on the wheat varieties developed at the university during the past one hundred years was being prepared.

The document would be released at the four-day international seminar on wheat and barley to be held from August 18.

The publication of the documents would be carried out in Hindi and English language to suit the scientists and the farmers alike.

Dr Agarwal further said that the Hindi version of the document in the book-form would be given free to the farmers, while the English version would be distributed among the agro-scientists.

According to Dr Agarwal, the university scientists have developed more than 40 varieties of wheat during the past one hundred years.

All these developed varieties have yielded good results in terms of quantity and quality production with minimum problem of disease catching.

During the four-day seminar, a draft proposal would be prepared on the possibilities of production, productivity and net income to farmers through growing specific varieties of the wheat and barley crop in different agro-climatic zones, Dr Agarwal said.

He said in order to make the seminar a big success, 12 committees have been constituted to look after the various arrangements with regard to the seminar and the stay of the delegates coming from different universities of the country and also from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and other neighbouring countries.

Vice-Chancellor CSA university Dr Agarwal said that an alumni conference would also be organised to mobilise them for their support to the promotion of the university in every possible manner.
