While the curfew was relaxed in Kotwali from 9 AM -11 AM, in Tewaripur and Rajghat areas it will be lifted from 3PM-5PM and 12 noon-2PM respectively, ADM (City) P K Agarwal said.

However, the authorities decided not to relax curfew in Goraknath area, where the Goraknath temple is situated.

Essential commodities are being supplied in the curfew-bound areas, Agarwal said.

Prohibitory orders have been in force in the eastern Uttar Pradesh town since last week after communal violence broke out.

Two persons were killed and several others sustained injuries in the violence.
