More than 70 best designers, 55 models, 160 buyers and a twin runway...boy, it is surely getting bigger each time, but the better is yet to be decided!
After a successful fashion week earlier this year, FDCI is back with another fashion extravaganza.
To be held at The Grand, from August 30 to September 3, it's definitely going to be one big fashion fiesta.
Moreover, the FDCI has added an extra day for business deals on September 4. What more could the designers ask for?
Fashion designers, often condescendingly described as "glorified darzis", are ready to display their best creations - Prêt and diffusion - catering to International as well as Indian markets. Also in the limelight are our body-luscious models-who will also be at their 'dare bare' best.
Let's take a sneak peak into who's in and who's not this time...
Temptations strike Mumbai darzis!
Rocky S is a new entrant this time. His Spring-Summer line is called 'Girl in the woods'.
The designer who sent out Lovely Lolitas, inspired by the intuitive killer instinct of a woman, is this time getting ready to send out a typical girlie girl collection.
Along with Rocky S, top-notch Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra has also fallen for the temptation. He will be showcasing his designs at the Grand finale on September 3. With rumours of top celebrities walking the ramp for him, his show will be something to watch out for!
Delhi boy Suneet Verma, unlike last time, where he opted for Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, is back to sweet home. He will present his collection in the capital on September 3. The line is "Africana to the core," as Suneet puts it.
While Kavita Bhartia's Spring-Summer '07 collection is 'Wildflower' that tries to bring out the child in a modern woman, Mother Teressa inspires Valaya's line.
One striking point in most designers' collection - be it Krishna Mehta, Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani or Manish Mlahotra - is that the designs aim at accentuating on the very feminine side of womanhood.
Among the models, there will be 16 new faces along with 39 top models. But we will definitely miss ramp hunk Upen Patel!
Of the 160 buyers, 70 are from abroad - a veritable creamy layer from 14 countries including the US, Britain, France and Russia.
Among them are Galeries Lafayette and Maria Luisa (Paris), Marubeni (London), Sunmotoyama (Japan), Tsum (Moscow), Zoxx Colours for Living (Israel), Sanskrit (Hong Kong), Zinia Fashion (Kuwait), Indomix Inc. (US), The Fashion House (Dubai), and Shatoosh (Spain).
In addition, buyers from Australia, Bahrain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland and Turkey have also confirmed their participation.
And from the 90 domestic buyers, the more familiar names are Kimaya, Ensemble, Evoluzione, Be, Ogaan, Carma, Shoppers Stop, Samsaara, Mogra, Hot Pink, 85 Lansdowne and Ayamik.
