Damage suit against SBI Credit Cards

The Guwahati-based Consumers Legal Protection Forum (CLPF) has filed a damage suit against SBI Credit Cards and Payment Assistant Unit of Gurgaon for allegedly cheating a mobile handset customer.

The Guwahati-based Consumers Legal Protection Forum (CLPF) has filed a damage suit against SBI Credit Cards and Payment Assistant Unit of Gurgaon for allegedly cheating a mobile handset customer.

The CLPF has sought damages worth Rs 54,990. Its chief coordinator Ajay Hazarika and member Subhas Mohan Sarma filed the case (number 129 of 2009) was filed in the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Kamrup.

“SBI Credit Cards had given two poor quality mobile phone handsets to Atul Chandra Das of Guwahati under its Priceless Scheme. The handsets went out of order soon but the company refused to act on the complaint from the customer,” Hazarika told Hindustan Times.

The court issued a show-cause notice to the company.

CLPF has been providing free legal aid to victimized consumers since 2008. It had filed cases against the Gurgaon-based firm on earlier occasions.
