Danish Parkar, nephew of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, was detained and sent to jail by Nagpada police to ensure that he does not create any trouble.

The passport authorities initiated a verification procedure suspecting that he had acquired a forged passport.

Police sources said Danish, son of Haseena Parkar, elder sister of Dawood Ibrahim, was detained by Nagpada police under provisions of the Bombay Police Act, as a passport verification process was initiated in connection with the passport acquired by him.

"The detention was done so that Danish does not create any problem during the verification process," senior police officials said.

He added that Danish was sent to Central Jail on Arthur Road after he refused to furnish a bond for release as per provisions of Bombay Police Act.

He is the second nephew of Dawood against whom action has been taken by police in the recent days.

Earlier, Dawood's another elder sister, Hamida Wagle's son was arrested on extortion charges in February.
