According to sources, Ganesh Chandra Gupta and Dinesh Chandra Gupta, residents of Kidwai Nagar, filed a case against the KESCo alleging that the company was involved in fake billing.

They lodged a complaint with the KESCo general manager alleging that the KESCo officials made fake electricity bill and showed excess load of 44 horse power.

He directed the officials concerned to make the necessary amendments in the bill but they did not follow the GM’s directive.

The complainants, who run an industry, have two connections at their residence. While one is meant for the domestic use, the other is for the industry.

According to the complainants, their industrial connection was approved for 27 horse power, and the last bill, from December 13, 2005 to January 31, 2006, was worth Rs 11, 278. They paid the bill on February 16, Therefore, there were no dues against them.

However, KESCo officials pleaded that that since the complainants were running a small industry, their case did not come in the consumer category.

Hence, their plea should be turned down.

Besides, it also stated that during the raid at their residence, the KESCo team found that a phase was directly connected with the nearby electric pole. Thus, the complainants were found guilty for stealing power.

However, the DCF, including its chairman AH Ansari taking the note of all evidence, observed that complainant did not commit any theft.
