Students leaders led by Onkar Dhar Dwivedi, Ajay Sharma, Akhilesh Dubey and others took out the procession from NC Hostel and reached the V-C’s residence.
They shouted slogans against the university administration and sat on a dharna. Later, Prof Arun Kumar reached the dharna spot and promised that he would convene a meeting of the executive council before August 12 to to take a decision on increasing the seats.

The students demanded 100 per cent increase in registration of PhD and said the merit system for PhD registration should be cancelled. They demanded that generators should be provided in all the hostels as unscheduled and prolonged power cuts were posing problems for the students in continuing their studies.

They also demanded 50 per cent increase in BSc seats.

Talking to mediapersons, Dwivedi said one week earlier the students had handed over a memorandum to the university authority but no action was taken.

He threatened to intensify the agitation if the university authorities continued their lackadaisical attitude.
