The issue he raised was the shift in deadline to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-run vehicles in Kanpur because the essential infrastructure required to introduce CNG-run vehicles is not in place.

Puri said that Ali assured him that by March 25, 2006, the government would decide on the same. Only two companies have applied for approval of their CNG-kit.

The other problem raised to Ali was about establishment of fitness equipment needed for CNG transport. Puri said that Ali told him that no such arrangement has been made and the government was awaiting a proposal from the transport offices concerned.

About the fixation of CNG price, nothing concrete has been decided Puri said.
Talking to the Hindustan Times regional transport officer BK Gupta said more or less the situation remains the same as earlier and said progress in this regard was likely to come in a day or so and only then something could be said.
