Deccan Odyssey to begin its magical journey next month

The Deccan Odyssey, Maharashtra's only super-luxury train, will start running from October next month.

The Deccan Odyssey, Maharashtra's only super-luxury train, will start running from October next month, State Tourism Development Corporation announced today.

The trains runs through Maharashtra between October and April each year.

"The Deccan Odyssesy has been benchmarked along with the best luxury trains in the world, like the Blue Train of South Africa, The Orient Express of Europe and the Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia. The first attempt (last year) was successful... It was nice to see foreign tourists overwhelmed by our royal treatment," General Manager, MTDC, Prithviraj Patil said here today.

The train will begin its seven-day journey next month through the erstwhile kingdom of the Marathas - Mumbai, Ganapatiphule, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Tarkali, Sawantwadi, Goa, Pune, Aurangabad, Ellora, Ajanta and Nasik, a MTDC release said.

This year, the fully air-conditioned train boasts of all modern trappings and state-of-the-art conference faciliies. Everything in the train reflects the ways of Indian royalty. Each coach is named after some of the best places and forts of Maharashtra, the release said.
