Mukesh Lakhanpal and wife Satvinder, residents of Mayur Vihar Phase 3, had stopped their car on the National Highway 2 around 11.30pm when four men came in another vehicle and took them to a nearby field.

They tied the couple’s hands and legs and snatched their jewellery and money. When Satvinder resisted, they put a rope around her neck and shoved cloth into her mouth, probably choking her to death.

Villagers saw Mukesh’s abandoned car and alerted the police. Mukesh is the marketing head of a magazine. The police are yet to make arrests.
