Personal computer maker Dell is bullish on India and is thinking about setting a separate unit in the country apart from expanding its present BPO operations.
Dell Computers is slated to make a major announcement in India next week, its chairman Michael Dell said on the sidelines of a breakfast meeting organised by CII here.
The company will spell out its investment plans for the country soon, he added.
Dell's plans for India come close on the heels of announcements by two other IT majors Intel and AMD to set up units in the country.
Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the country was planning to come up with assemble-test-make and fabrication facilities for the IT sector. One of such (ATM) facility would be ready by this year.
"If you wnat to come up with a fabrication unit first, you are welcome," Chidambaram said.
Dell said the company's BPO business was on the growth path as it expanded facilities in three cities -- Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Dell is moving from the temporary facility model to a campus model in the three cities.
