Their 7-6 (8/6), 4-6, 10-7 win prevented the top seeds from claiming a third title in Paris having also triumphed in 2006.

"I never thought I would win a Grand Slam title. It's really exciting," said 26-year-old Dellacqua, whose singles ranking has slumped to 317 in the world after being at a high of 39 in 2008.
