District magistrate Amrit Abhijat flagged off the rally at about 6.30 am. The DM and CMO Dr Shantimal Singhavi led the rally to spread awareness about control and prevention of dengue. The rally passed through Tashkent Marg, Kanpur Road, High Court, Civil Lines, Hanuman temple and concluded at the stadium.

The Sports hostel inmates all dressed up in track suits carried colourful placards informing people about the symptoms of dengue and ways to prevent it. The citizens were also informed about the anti-mosquito measures through posters and banners carried by the Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers.

The district malaria department distributed handouts containing information of the signs and symptoms of dengue fever, its prevention and treatment. The miking was also done to sensitize people about the deadly 'break-bone' fever.

The rally was accompanied by a large number of district administration and district health department officers. Prominent amongst them were superintendents of Beli and Colvin district hospitals, district malaria officer DN Shukla, Dr SC Srivastava, ADM (administration) and Dr Kalim Akmal.

Cycle rally today: The volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra will take out a cycle rally on Tuesday. The volunteers will cover urban malin basti and also identify patients with dengue-like symptoms. "The people living in the malin basti will be informed about the dangers of dengue fever. Various anti-mosquito measures will also be taken in the malin basti to control mosquito breeding," informed CMO Dr Shantimal Singhavi.
