Manju, 28, has been admitted to SN Hospital in Agra with 25% burns while her husband Indra Kumar is absconding.
Station officer, New Agra Police Station, Ashish Kumar Singh said the couple had married 12 years ago and had three children. The elder one too received minor burns during the attack.
Singh said the family expenses were met through Manju’s earnings as Indra Kumar was a casual worker and would spend his earnings on alcohol and then badger his wife for more money.
Manju, who worked as a maid, told police that her husband always suspected that she had relations with some other men and would threaten to disfigure her face with acid.
On Saturday when Manju refused to give him money, he attacked her with acid and ran away.
