With festive fervour gripping the city, the fashion designers, too, are warming up to the season ahead. Anjana Bhargav is no different. At a sneak preview of Riding High, her new collection, Bhargav showcased her designs for the season.

And if you thought Bhargav would unveil tweeds or woollens, you thought wrong. “It is georgette, chiffon and crepe all the way. These are the fabrics in vogue,” she says.

Bhargav’s drawstrings and churidars ruched at the hem can be casually worn with a top or a kameez. “The slight embroidery embellishes the top which can be worn to a formal dinner or an evening out with friends,” she says She uses fabrics like satin, net and georgette studded with sequins and stones. “It is a look that a contemporary Indian women can feel comfortable in. You can create it by simply wearing a corset with a sari, a lehenga made like a skirt and worn with a traditional top or kaftans and ponchos worn with capris,” she adds Bhargav.

The preview of the collection was accompanied by an exhibition of Anu Chawla’s silver jewellery. The jewellery, elegant and funky at the same time, was made of semi-precious stones in interesting colours like blue, milky white and green. “The stones are especially selected and designed,” says Chawla. Spotted at the preview: Venezuelan ambassador Milena Santana Ramirez, Alexandra Faesler, wife of the Mexican ambassador and kathak exponent Shovana Narayan.
