The ceasefire is effective from Sunday.
"We have decided on a truce with the security forces under the circumstances," said DHD-J commander-in-chief Niranjan Hojai in a faxed letter to Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi.
Meanwhile, David Dimasa, one of the four top commanders of the outfit, accused the police of trapping Gorlosa by dangling the talks carrot.
