What had happened was the cordless mike developed some problem and Vijayakant had shouted to the staff to attended to the matter, Baskar said.

Vijayakant was sitting inside his caravan along with AIADMK-DMDK alliance candidates when the mike problem occurred,he said.

But certain sections of the media had wrongly projected that the leader had assaulted him, Baskar told reporters on Wednesday.

He accused the DMK and PMK of fabricating the story and said it would not yield dividends for them in the April 13 assembly elections.
