DMK not opposed to persons learning any language: Kanimozhi

The DMK was not opposed to persons learning any language and had raised objections only when the public were forced to learn the national language, which made them 'second class citizens,' party MP Kanimozhi.

The DMK was not opposed to persons learning any language and had raised objections only when the public were forced to learn the national language, which made them 'second class citizens,' party MP Kanimozhi, daughter of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi said in Vellore on Monday.

Participating in an anti-hindi anniversary meeting, she said the party had never insisted that people should learn only Tamil. They were free to learn English, Hindi and Sanskrit, she said.

She also criticised the AIADMK for staging a walkout from the assembly when the Sri Lankan Tamil issue was taken up, saying that party leader Jayalalithaa had 'no sentiments' towards the Tamils.
