The residents had been experiencing this downpour since early morning on Tuesday. Vehicular traffic was also affected by the downpour. There were reports of several motorcycles and other two-wheelers skidding of the roads as the rainfall had made the roads quite slippery. There were reports of a few mishaps too.

The condition of Beniabagh-Lahuraveer road, where construction work of Ganga Action Plan-II was underway, was the worst hit and very slippery.
Affected by rains and anticipating more downpours, people were seen buying raincoats and umbrellas. One could see commuters wearing raincoats and using umbrellas to escape from the rain.
Several low-lying areas and dilapidated roads were waterlogged. People faced hardships on Samneghat-Lanka road due to waterlogging here. This route is already in a dilapidated condition and ditches and potholes were full of rainwater.
The rain even affected local businesses as most people preferred to remain indoors.
As the Varanasi Nagar Nigam had left heaps of silt and garbage after cleaning the nullahs in several areas, the downpour caused bad smell to occur.
However, people enjoyed the rain by sharing light moments with their family members and friends. People heaved a sigh of relief as they were thankful to the rain gods for getting them rid of the scorching heat.
Eminent meteorologist and former faculty member of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Prof BRD Gupta said the present weather conditions were indicating showing the monsoon was at the threshold and it could hit this region within two to three days.
