A LONG-CHERISHED dream to serve the city has come true: This is how Congress candidate Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh, summed up his victory in the election to the coveted post of Mayor.
The mayoral election was held on October 31.
Talking to HT after being elected as Mayor, Chaudhary counted his priorities. He said he would make all efforts keep the city cleaner and meet out all deadlines to complete the Ardh Kumbh mela preparations on time. He also said he would make suggestions to improve the quality of public service. He would also make the administration more people-friendly, he added.
It has been a meteoric rise for Chaudhary, president of KP Trust and son of a prominent Congress leader, the late Chaudhary Naunihal Singh. He thanked the citizens and the district administration to keep their faith in him. He promised to fulfill all the assurances given during the election campaign.
He added that to provide clean drinking water for the residents of the city, he would arrange a clean and proper drainage system. He would make it an ideal city and try to revive its past glory in accordance with its great religious and political importance.
Excess taxation would be reduced, and he would ensure that the funds received from the public spent only on public work in a transparent manner.
Besides, the problems of daily wagers and Safai Karmcharis would be considered on top priority to provide a cleaner city. New sewer lines would be laid.
