According to reports the Panipat goods train was moving towards Delhi from Allahabad Junction station. As soon as the train reached the starter point, the signal started showing red light.

Meanwhile, another goods train Dadri special was moving on the Up line on the nearby track.

Seeing this the driver of Panipat goods train at once applied the break. But as the train was in a speed it took time for the train to halt.

Sources said that both the trains had reached near the starter points but alertness of the driver averted the major accident that might have occurred on Sunday night.

It was learnt that the signal was turned red on the directions of the Section Control at the office of Divisional Railway Manager.

Chief Public Relation Officer NCR BP Pandey said that inquiry into the Subedarganj incident will be instituted after the inquiry into the incident involving Chauri-Chaura Express and Bareilly-Mughalsarai Passenger which is scheduled for October 11 and 12.

However, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) SK Chaudhary said that he directed the officers concerned, to look into the matter and it was found that interlocking was in a perfect condition and thus it was just not possible to start the two trains from the yard at the same time.
