An active social activist and trade unionist, Doman Singh Nagpure has been associated with Republican Party of India.

An active social activist and trade unionist, Doman Singh Nagpure has been associated with Republican Party of India. However, after his "alliance" with Congress, he has held several important portfolios during Digvijay Singh's 10-year rule in Madhya Pradesh so far. Many dub him as 'communist' Congressman.

Born on March, 1, 1944 in Kharlanji constituency in Madhya Pradesh, he has been active in social works through Praja Samajwjdi Party from 1962 to 1967 and later became popular for launching a struggle for the rights of workers from 1967 to 1977.

Active in politics since 1977, he was an active member of Republican Party of India (Khofragade) from 1980 to 1990 and Organising Secretary of its MP unit.

First elected as MLA in 1980 on a ticket of the R.P.I (K) and again in 1991, he has been associated with organisation of Bidi workers and farm labourers and is the All India Treasurer of Democratic Trade Union.

After being elected to the Assembly for the third time in 1993, he was inducted as a Minister of State Digvijay Cabinet in December, 1998. Later he was elevated to the rank of Cabinet Minister.
