The Election Commission has asked all political parties to submit within five days the list of their 20 to 30 top leaders scheduled to address rallies during the Assembly elections.
The EC order is aimed at calculating the expenses incurred during the election, besides handling the security arrangements.
The Commission has made it clear that if any party failed to comply with the order by November 15 then it would be at liberty to add the expenses of the visiting leaders to the expenditures of individual candidate.
As per rules, tour expenses of top leaders are added to the party account, which raises the ceiling of candidates contesting election from different political parties.
In a recently held meeting with the leaders of political parties, Chief electoral officer requested them to provide the list of VIPs who would address the party election rallies in the state.
For Congress, Oscar Fernandes and Mukul Wasnik are finalising the list of senior leaders in consultation with the Pradesh Congress Committee chief and the Chief Minister.
The two leaders are likely to submit the list to the PCC in a couple of days, which in turn would submit it to the Election Commission.
Similarly, a similar list is to be submitted to the BJP by party general secretary and incharge of the state party affairs, Pramod Mahajan.
State Bharatiya Janata party chief and other senior leaders are being consulted before finalising the itineraries of top leaders like Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and LK Advani for Rajasthan.
