EC, Centre at loggerheads over appointment of new Home Secy
The Election Commission and the Centre have crossed swords over the selection of new Home Secretary. The Centre has appointed GK Pillai as the new Home Secretary, whereas the EC is favouring Madhukar Gupta to continue on the post.

Snubbing the EC, PMO today said that the EC has an advisory role and thus it cannot be the final word on the appointment.
