Since 8 am today, nearly 60 students—in a team of 8-10 students each—went to the homes of nearly 40 teachers of the MGM Medical College and sought their blessings. The teachers were given a ‘tulsi’ plant, shreefal (auspicious coconut) and flowers.
“Our college does not hold any formal function; but we felt it is necessary to honour our teachers so we decided to reach out to them individually,” MGM College Students’ Union president Raghavendra Singh Thakur said.
The teachers protested the incident at Ujjain in which a person from their fraternity was brutally killed allegedly by student activists, he said and added, “We, the students of MGM College, too condemn the incident; such an incident should not have happened at all.”
The students, under the leadership of Thakur and MPJDA general secretary Dr Anand Rai, spent the morning hours to go to the homes of their teachers before joining classes even when there was a bandh call in connection with the Ujjain incident.
CHOITHRAM COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES: The College organised a plantation programme to mark Teacher’s Day on Monday. College principal Lata Guru said that Indians used to worship trees like gods in the ancient times. She further said, “Today human beings cut trees for their interests; it is high time that people must realise the importance of trees and plants,” she added.
Dr Aditya Vyas said that plants understand the language of love and care. According to him they yield better when nurtured with personal attention. Pawan Bhandari was present in the programme.
MP GOVERNMENT COLLEGE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (GOVERNMENT ARTS AND COMMERCE COLLEGE UNIT): The teachers discussed various incidents from Dr Radhakrishnan’s life with respect to the present scenario and established that he was a great teacher. Prof Nirmala Mishra and Dr Ashok Jain said that the progress of students would remain incomplete if the incidents like Prof Sabharwal’s death take place regularly.
Dr Yogendranath Shukla gave instances from his book ‘Buddhijivi’ and Dr Pankaj Trivedi emphasised that government teachers contribute to Assembly elections but their own students insult them during college elections. College principal (incharge) Dr Pushplata Jain concluded that Guru-Shishya tradition needs to be revived. All the teachers offered tribute to Prof Harbhajan Singh Sabharwal.
UNIVERSAL SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT: “A teacher must teach his students to fight and tackle all the problems without panicking or losing hope”. Railway Police SP V N Pachori said this as the chief guest of felicitation ceremony organised by Universal Solidarity Movement. Sankalp Project Instructor Mamta Rathore and St Mary’s Convent School teacher Ashico P J G were felicitated
with certificate, shawl and coconut in the programme. Mamta said that a teacher must transform himself to change and mould the students in the right manner.
Ashico P J G said that teachers must take care of the students considering them to the nation’s future. Sankalp Project convener Prakash Chandra Sen conducted the programme while Kapil Vankhede proposed the vote of thanks.
BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY: “Teachers are like lamps as they light up the society with their knowledge; the gurus hold the highest position as they take the children from darkness to the light of vision and education”. Khadi Gramodyog Board president Satyanarayan Sattan said this in a programme on Teacher’s Day organised by BJP Teacher’s Cell in the City.
Teacher’s Cell state president Suresh Deshpande stated that a teacher would always remain respectable in all conditions. Teacher’s Cell state vice president Devi Singh Rathore also addressed the programme. Sattan, Radha Krishna Gupta, Shankarlal Joshi, Anil Chaturvedi, Pradeep Kulkarni, Laxmi Narayan Joshi and others were felicitated in the programme.
BJP city president Ramesh Mendola, general secretary Sudarshan Gupta and Harish Dagur were present in the programme. Teacher’s Cell city president Bherulal Patidar welcomed the guests. Gupta conducted the programme while Patidar proposed the vote of thanks.
SHRI SWAMI PARMANAND HOSPITAL: “A teacher is worth being worshipped as he shapes the personality of even the mentally challenged children well; they treat all children as equal and shower love and care on all the students.” SP Anshuman Yadav said this in the Teacher’s Day celebration in the Centre for Mentally Challenged Children in the hospital.
Teachers, parents and rickshaw drivers were felicitated in the programme. Panchayat and Social Welfare Joint Director DR G D Sharma informed that a month-long survey programme for physically or mentally challenged persons would be organised in the hospital up to September 30. A survey camp would be held on November 12.
Rotary Club president Jagdish Shah, S N Joshi and Subhash Chandra Jha also addressed the programme. Mentally challenged students presented cultural show on the occasion. Dr G D Nagar, Kishanlal Pahwa, Anita Sharma, Tulsi Shadija and others welcomed the guests. Govind Maloo conducted the programme while Anita Sharma proposed the vote of thanks.
