Senior faculty member and eminent trainer Jagdish Khatri, who explained the importance of an effective CV in securing a job that suits the potential of an individual, conducted the workshop.

Khatri apprised the audience about current trends in the job market, by quoting facts from several recent research reports.

As per an AIMA-McKinsey Survey, developed nations will require at least 10 million professionals from India to meet their demand of skilled manpower during 2010 to 2020.

“This demand has arisen due to demographic patterns in these countries. Yet we have reports from recruiting agencies and portals that hardly 10-15 per cent of resumes submitted to them are worth being examined further. This highlights the fact there is no dearth of talent, there is absolute shortage of skills in preparing effective resumes or CVs, he said.

Khatri mentioned that prior to writing a  CV, everyone should carry out a thorough self appraisal, including that of career and job. He described the significance of elements of a good CV, keeping in view the overall career objectives.

The workshop had interesting interactive sessions with participants seeking answers to their queries. Several examples of each element were discussed and participants were asked to prepare model CVs, keeping in view their strength.

Khatri also discussed the importance and ways of writing an attractive application letter accompanying the CV, which is often neglected.

Branch manager, ICFAI Yash Sharma thanked the faculty and highlighted the commitment of ICFAI to provide quality education as well as placement assistance to its students, in flexible education programme. He mentioned the growing popularity of flexible education programmes of ICFAI, which helped the students as well as busy executives to enhance their knowledge and qualifications, while continuing with their occupation.

Yash also mentioned that more such workshops were planned in quick sessions to develop skills in succeeding at group discussion and also at personal interviews.
