Acting on a tip off that LeT 'divisional commander' Shah Din Khanday along with some militants is hiding in Kither forest belt, troops of Rastriya Rifles and police launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area on Friday, official sources said.

The encounter is continuing and details are not immediately available.

HuJI's 'supreme commander' Feroz Ahmed Mengnu was among six militants, including five top commanders of the group, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and LeT killed in three separate gunbattles in Kishtwar and Poonch districts in the last two days.
