The empty train was being shunted from Laxmi Bai Nagar railway station to the pit (service station) situated at Maal Godam when the train jumped off the tracks between platform No 4 and 5. The bogies of this train were to be attached to the express train leaving for Nagpur at night.
Before the driver could understand anything, six wheels of the engine and four wheels of the bogie had fallen off the tracks. Station manager Satish Kumar was informed and he called the service crew and crane from Mhow.
