Engineer arrested by Vigilance for accepting bribe

An assistant engineer of Balishankara block in Orissa's Sundargarh district was today arrested by state vigilance sleuths in a bribery case.
The engineer, Akhaya Kumar Sahoo was trapped at his office while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a contractor, Budhuram Ekka for clearing the final bill of Rs two lakhs after completion of construction work of a school building.
The engineer had demanded a bribe of Rs 6000 for clearing Budhuram's final bill. Budhuram had earlier paid bribe of Rs 3,000 and the engineer was trapped while accepting rest amount of Rs 3,000, they said.
Sahoo will be produced before a vigilance court at Sambalpur, the sources said.
