On Friday, traders organised a day-long state-wide bandh to protest police lathicharge and firing on traders in Hardwar.

The bandh was successful, with shops and business establishments, petrol pumps, cinema houses and educational institutions remaining closed in Dehradun, officials said. Traffic also remained thin throughout the day.

Curfew continued in parts of Hardwar and security measures were kept tight, they added. However, no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the state.
