Ramanuj Verma told the police that brothers Nanku Yadav and Bina Yadav stopped him, when he was on way to his native Kauriya village in Patna district on Monday evening. The duo allegedly told him he had no business to sport a twirled moustache.
A fight ensued. The brothers called a few of their friends and all joined in assaulting Verma, according to his complaint.
"During the fight, Bina cut my ear. They then took my bike and other belongings and fled," the ex-solder told the police.
Bihta police station SHO Sanjit Kumar Sinha, quoting Verma's complaint, said a sharp weapon was used in slicing off his left ear.
It was learnt Verma and the brothers had fallen out of a friendship recently over some disagreement.
Verma, who had recently retired and taken a new job outside the village, however, did not take the assault lying down. Sinha said the former soldier had broken the jaw of one of the assailants.?
Along with the Yadav brothers, some of their accomplices have been named in the FIR that was filed on Wednesday, Sinha said, adding the accused have not filed a counter complaint.
