Family feud: Five burnt alive in Allahabad

Five members of a family, including a woman and three children, were burnt alive allegedly by two of their relatives.

Five members of a family, including a woman and three children, were burnt alive allegedly by two of their relatives at Kareli in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh, a police official said on Thursday.

Manoj Nishad, his wife and three of his children were burnt alive allegedly by Nishad's nephews Mahendra and Bhaiya Lal late last night at Satiapur, DIG (Allahabad Range) Alkhilesh Mehrotra told a news agency.

Mahendra had been nursing a grouse against Nishad as the latter did not agree to his proposal to marry the uncle's daughter, he said. Nishad married off his daughter to someone else.

Efforts were on to nab the culprits, Mehrotra added.
