The wife of a debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in Shivadi village in Niphad taluka, police said on Tuesday.
Police suspect 50-year-old Shantabai Punjaram Thakare took the extreme step on Saturday due to financial problems being faced by her husband.
Shantabai went missing soon after her husband went out of town on Saturday. Her body was discovered on Monday when her son went to the well to switch on an electric pumpset, police said.
A probe has been launched to ascertain the reason behind the suicide, police said.
