Kailash Chand Garg, a retired Professor, threatened to jump from the eighth floor of his apartment complex in Sector 22 of Dwarka on Wednesday morning even as his son Sudhir tried to persuade him not to take the extreme step, police said.

However, Garg refused to heed his son's pleas and leapt off his balcony. He fell on his son, who was standing on the ground, injuring him seriously, police said.

While Garg died on the spot, his 47-year-old engineer son died of internal fractures later at a hospital.

According to family members, Garg's mental condition has not been stable for sometime and he has been undergoing treatment at a hospital.
