FCI sports meet gets underway

THE SPORTS meet of Food Corporation of India (FCI) began in the City on Wednesday. Carom and chess are being organised in the week-long meet.
On the inaugural day, Mukesh Kumar defeated Laxman Das in straight games 2-0 in the carom event. Chunnilal defeated BD Peswani by same score and KS Negi won against RB Malviya with defeating him 2-0.
In the first round of the chess event, Rajendra Singh defeated Narayan, Shaikh Rasool defeated Yashpal, LN Singh defeated RN Malviya and RK Verma defeated AK Saxena. YD Mathur and Azharullah was awarded walkover.
Earlier, corporation General Manager Samir Kumar Khare inaugurated the meet. Deputy General Manager KK Paliwal and others were present.
