Tragedienne of yesteryear Sarada has come all the way from Andhra Pradesh to campaign for Shashi Tharoor, former UN diplomat, contesting from Thiruvanathapuram Lok Sabha on Congress ticket.
Sarada, who was with the Telugu Desam, has now joined the Congress and actively campaigned for Tharoor, former UN Under Secretary General who is pitted against heavyweights like P Ramachandran Nair of CPI and BJP's state unit President PK Krishnadas.
Though hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Sarada has endeared herself to the people of the state with her memorable roles in Malayalam films like Thulabharam (1968) and Swayamvaram (1972), both fetching her the national award.She won another with her performance in the Telugu film Nimajj Anam.
The leading lady of actors like Sathyan and Prem Nazir in the 60s and 70s,Sarada has also acted with the current superstars Mammooty and Mohanlal.
On Monday, she was in Kochi, campaigning for Congress candidate KV Thomas who is contesting from Ernakulam.
Another actor, Murali, who is close to the left parties, has been actively campaigning for left candidates in constituencies like Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Chalakudy and does not sees anything amiss in CPI(M) warming up to the Abdul Nasser Madhani-led PDP.
