Former CM Rabri Devi and her husband, Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav may soon be forced out of 1, Anne Marg. The administration has asked Patna DM B. Rajendra and SSP Kundan Krishnan to enforce the eviction order served on Rabri Devi on December 13.

Building construction minister Monazir Hasan said on Tuesday: “A competent authority of the department has written to the DM and SSP to get the house forcibly evicted without any delay.” But he said no deadline has been given to them to execute the eviction order.

However, the RJD chief and his wife seem to be in no hurry to vacate the house. Lalu had said on Monday: “Will they hang me if I don’t vacate the house within the deadline?”

Hasan said the former first couple had been handing out one plea after another for not vacating. “Earlier, they said they didn’t want to move out till kharmas, an inauspicious period, and now they say they will consult astrologers first to select an auspicious date for shifting. We’ve been patient all along but they’ve failed to cooperate with the officials, who are only doing their duty trying to get the house vacated for the new CM,” he said.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar had some time ago said: “Let them stay on as long as they want to.” For now, Nitish is using the state guesthouse and a private residence.
