Final year IIT-K student commits suicide

A final year IIT student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his hostel room in Kanpur, police said.

Shailesh Sharma, 22, a B-Tech student was reportedly upset over his poor performance in the final year examination and hanged himself this afternoon, police said.

Sharma's family in Varanasi has been informed of the incident. His body has been sent for post-mortem, police added.
