Fire at Kolkata's Burra Bazar, no casualties

Thirty-two fire tenders and about 300 personnel were rushed to the area to bring the fire under control.

Several small plywood factories and godowns spread over 20,000 sq ft area near the city's business hub Burra Bazar were reduced to ashes early on Monday in a devastating fire, Fire Brigade sources said.

Thirty-two fire tenders and about 300 personnel were rushed to the area to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to the congested Burra Bazar area, they said, adding it took them about four hours to control the blaze.

There was no report of any casualty, the sources said.

The cause of the fire and extent of damage were being ascertained, sources added.
