These directives were issued by the Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Babulal Gaur during his visit to the gas affected localities here today. He visited the gas-affected localities- Bhanpur square, Karond square, Geeta Nagar and Shiv Nagar under Ward number 65-66.
He also inspected a sump-well constructed by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation at the cost of about Rs 1.25 crore near the railway over-bridge at Bhanpur. The minister was told that the work of laying of pipelines remained to be done. Gaur issued instructions to complete this work in the month of June.
He said he would dedicate this drinking water scheme on July 1, adding that pure drinking water would be supplied from this sump-well to 10 gas-affected localities. He also received complaints from the people that oil mixed drinking water was being supplied to the residents of these localities.
The minister sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each from his MLA’s fund for Geeta Nagar in ward number 65 and Chandwadi Ayodhya locality in ward 66. He also instructed the officers of the Municipal Corporation to construct roads in Geeta Nagar and Shankar Nagar and a drainage system in Chandwadi.
District Collector Sanjay Shukla said that three-and-half acre of land had been allotted to the Municipal Corporation for the construction of a fire brigade centre near the People’s Group Hospital on Karond by-pass road.
Gaur also issued instruction to construct hawkers’ corner at Karond square, where about 60 hand-driven trolley pullers would be able to stand. Besides, the daily labourers would be able to take rest at the place.
The Principal Secretary of Gas Relief MM Upadhyay, Superintending Engineer of CPA, BK Shikari, BMC Additional Commissioner, KK Singh Chauhan and other officials were present.
