DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION rescued a fisherman and his wife, who were caught in the floodwater of Chambal river for over eight hours.

The couple was rescued after a five hour-long operation by the administration at Nagda this afternoon. The rescue operation could begin eight hours after the couple got trapped when Collector Neeraj Mandloi got the information through media persons.
The local police despite having information did not launch rescue operation. According to details, some local fishermen had gone to the river at 4 am today. Noticing that water is on rise, all returned but one Shankar (45) and his wife Dhapubai got trapped in the river but managed to reach an island there.
SDM Narendra Suryavanshi along with Home Guard team reached the spot. The rescue team erected a bridge through ropes and ladder paving way for successful operation. Grasim Industries Ltd, swimmers from Durgapura and corporators Raghunath Singh, Sajjan Shekawat played a vital role in the rescue job.
