According to police, the incident occurred when family members of a Dalit bridegroom tried to enter a temple in the village for prayers, to which Rajput community objected claiming it was their personal temple.

"Members of the marriage procession then started pelting stones at locals in which five persons including three women of the Rajput community were injured," a police official said.

The procession was being taken out amid police protection as father of the groom had requested the District Collector for the same suspecting any clash as he was a Dalit.

Nobody has has been arrested so far, and extra force has been deployed in the area, police said.
