Patiala House officials were caught unawares by the stars accompanying BJP candidate from Gole Market Poonam Azad. There was a huge rush of onlookers at the Connaught Place SDM's office on Wednesday where she had come to file her nomination papers.

Union Culture Minister Jagmohan reached before Azad who got delayed with the procession that started from Gole Market. He waited outside the SDM's office till she arrived.

Jagmohan's colleague in the ministry, Vinod Khanna, however, was not so punctual. He arrived late and had to introduce himself to the security personnel before entering the SDM's office.

Cricketer-turned-filmstar Ajay Jadeja joined the procession mid way. He came straight from his morning practice. He, however, seemed a bit out of place at the SDM's office. When the SDM asked for the deposit money, Jadeja asked, "Money for what?'.

Poonam Azad arrived with her husband Kirti Azad and BJP leader V K Malhotra. A large number of supporters shouting slogans followed them inside the office.

While checking the four sets of nomination papers, the SDM found that she had forgotten to sign on one of the sets. Her lawyers immediately, sprang into action and had the relevant papers signed and ready within 15 minutes. The Azads had left nothing to chance. To get the maximum mileage out of the occasion, their media advisors had also invited a battery of media persons.

"I am confident of defeating CM Dikshit," she said, while looking slightly hassled by the huge crowd of on-lookers.
