Incessant rains for the past few days have triggered flood-like situation in Assam and in parts of West Bengal.

Authorities have sounded a fresh flood alert in parts of Sonitpur, Darrang, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam for the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to reports, around 700 villages have been submerged in 10 districts of the state.

The situation has affected around 2,32,000 people in the state.
The Jalpaiguri district administration on Sunday sounded red alert in the unprotected embankment areas of Teesta river between Domohani and Bangladesh border.
Administrative officials said the red alert was sounded following rising of the river water due to incessant rains for the past few days.
Besides, yellow alert was also sounded in the protected embankment areas, the officials said.
