In another accident, in Noida, 19 persons were injured as a call centre bus collided with a truck in Sector 57. Here, too, poor visibility due to fog was reported to be the cause of collision.
Ten of the injured were admitted in Noida hospitals till late Monday evening while the rest were discharged after first aid.
“Around 5 am, four Bulandshahr residents were going to Delhi via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. Near the trade tax check post in Sakipur area, their Maruti car hit a truck. The collision reportedly took place due to poor visibility. One person died on the spot while three others were injured. They were admitted at Sharda Hospital,” said DK Walliyan, SHO, Kasna.
“The deceased was identified as Salimullah Khan (55). The injured were identified as Janab Khan, Yusuf Khan and Imanullah Khan. All were members of the same family. They were going to attend Moharram rituals when the accident took place,” said Walliyan.
The accident in Noida’s Sector 57 took place around 6.15 am.
“I was sleeping at a vend when I heard a bang and screams of people. I rushed to the road and found the sounds coming from the bus. Soon, other residents from nearby arrived and we pulled the injured out of the bus,” said Babloo, a vendor.
“The bus driver was speeding and we had warned him several times, but he continued driving fast,” said an injured employee.
“Nineteen call centre employees were injured as their bus hit a truck and the driver lost control. The bus ran over the divider at Sector 57 crossing. There were sixty employees in the bus,” said Ambesh Tyagi, deputy superintendent of police.
