Foodgrain prices move up in Chennai market

A firm trend prevailed at the wholesale foodgrains market in Chennai with prices of all commodities moving up during the week ended on Saturday.

A firm trend prevailed at the wholesale foodgrains market in Chennai with prices of all commodities moving up during the week ended on Saturday.

Thoor dal and moong dal which opened at their previous week's closing rate of Rs 8,000 on Monday, wound up at Rs 8,200 per quintal.

Urad dal moved up by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 7,300. Gram dal, sugar and wheat moved up by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 2,900, Rs 3,250 and Rs 2,000 from last week's rate of Rs 2,900, Rs 3,200 and Rs 1,950 respectively.

Maida and sooji (90 kg each) went up by Rs 25 to Rs 1,850 and Rs 1,900 from last week's rate Rs 1,825 and 1,875.
