As had been expected, Force India announced Nico Hulkenberg taking over driving duties from fellow German Adrian Sutil, who had been with the team since its inception in 2008.
Hulkenberg will partner Great Britain's Paul Di Resta who made his Formula One debut with Force India this year, and getting the better of the vastly more experienced Sutil on many occasions. Sutil had been demanding a clarification in his contract with the team prior to the Indian Grand Prix and the arrival of Hulkenberg now leaves the way clear for him to join Williams, as has been rumored.
Twenty-four-year-old Hulkenberg made his debut with Williams in 2010 with one of the most impressive CVs of recent F1 debutantes. Having won the A1 Grand Prix title for Team Germany (scoring nine wins in the 2006-07 season), he finished third in his debut F3 Euroseries season in 2007 before comfortably winning the title the following year. He then won the GP2 Series title in his very first year in 2009 while assuming the third driver role for Williams. In his debut F1 season the next year, he scored 22 points from 19 races and claimed his maiden pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Hulkenberg, who has been nicknamed 'The Hulk', was Force India's third driver for the 2011 season.
